Basic but not on flavour!
This is a very quick and simple Guacamole recipe that’s small on ingredients but not on flavour. It doesn’t need to be fancy to be good. This is the most simple and easy way to make Guacamole with no frills. Just avocado, lime juice and salt. No more, no less.
It’s fresh and vibrant and is the perfect accompaniment to many spicy dishes. As commonly done in many Mexican dishes. I like how simple it is and it’s tastes are not too over powering. A great way to keep your mouth from getting too hot when eating spicy food!
Simple Guacamole.. making it less simple!
While this is a simple Guacamole you can add lots to it to change it up. If you want something a bit more you can try adding some of these suggestions.
Try adding a red chilli chopped up to add a little spiciness to your guacamole. This is great if you are serving it more as a dip or on bread. Also you can add in some diced cherry tomatoes as well to add some sweetness alongside the freshness the lime adds. Likewise adding some diced red onion into this will also provide a similar sweet/fresh balance. If you want to really enhance the freshness you could try adding some finally chopped spring onions too!
Remember that experimenting is half the fun of cooking and trying new things even if they don’t work out is always worth it. Every failure is a learning experience in taste!

Description
A very simple Guacamole with very simple ingredients. Small on input, big on flavour!
Ingredients
1 Avocado
Juice of 1/2 Lime
Pinch of Salt
Instructions
1. Start by peeling the avocado and removing the stone. Just slice a knife down into the avocado until you hit the stone and rotate it around until you can pull the avocado in half. Once you have it halved simply squeeze the sides of the avocado that still holds the stone and it should just pop out.
2. Once it is peeled, dice it into small chunks and put it into a bowl. Then squeeze half a lime over the avocado chunks and add a pinch of salt.
3. Now using a fork just mash up the chunks as fine as you want. I usually like to leave it so there are still some small chunks of avocado in the mix. Give it a stir to make sure the lime juice and salt are all mixed in and now it is ready to serve!
Notes
- Works well as a simple dip for breads/nachos/etc.
- Serve with Chilli or other spicy tomato dishes for a nice contrast!
- Spread it on toast/bread and top it with an egg for a quick breakfast(Great from breaking a fast..)
